Owner Payout Terms

These Owner Payout Terms supplement the Terms of Service and apply to anyone who lists a tool on Toolie and receives payouts. By completing Stripe Connect onboarding, you accept these terms.

1. Stripe Connect Express

Payouts are processed through a Stripe Connect Express account that you create through Toolie. By onboarding, you also agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • You must have a valid Canadian bank account in your own legal name.
  • You must provide accurate identity information for KYC verification by Stripe.

3. Earnings and fees

  • You set your own listing prices.
  • Toolie retains a commission of 12 % of the rental amount per completed reservation.
  • Applicable taxes (GST/HST/QST) are collected from the Renter and remitted by Toolie on your behalf.
  • Stripe processing fees are absorbed by Toolie out of its commission.

4. Payout timing

On approval of a reservation, the rental payment (less commission) is transferred to your Stripe balance. Stripe pays out from your balance to your linked bank account on the standard schedule (typically T+2 business days in Canada). Stripe may delay payouts for risk or verification reasons.

5. Security deposits

Security deposits are held by Toolie (not transferred to your Stripe balance). If a dispute is filed and resolved in your favour, the awarded amount is released to your Stripe balance and paid out per the standard schedule.

6. Refunds and reversals

If a reservation is cancelled or refunded, Toolie will reverse the corresponding transfer from your Stripe balance. If your balance is insufficient, Stripe may debit your linked bank account.

7. Tax responsibility

Toolie collects and remits applicable consumption taxes (GST/HST/QST) on rentals on your behalf. Income tax on your earnings is your responsibility. We will provide annual earnings statements to assist you in filing.

8. Compliance

You agree to comply with all applicable laws, including those relating to consumer protection, product safety, anti-money-laundering, and tax. Toolie may suspend or terminate your ability to receive payouts for material breach.

9. Termination

You may close your Connect account at any time, which will deactivate your listings. Outstanding balances will be paid out per the standard schedule.
